Source data. HS codes in this tool follow the WCO Harmonized System nomenclature, current as of the HS 2022 revision. Chapter and heading descriptions use the WCO reference titles; where they read in ALL CAPS, the original brutalist form is preserved for auditability and rendered in title case for display only.
Search mechanics. Two paths — literal HS digits (2 to 6) match by prefix; keyword strings (≥2 characters) match case-insensitive against the description field. Results cap at 50; refine the query for narrower results.
Per-country subheadings. Phase 1 exposes WCO HS2 and HS4 only. Country-specific 8/10/12-digit extensions (US HTSUS, EU CN, CN HS) will land in Phase 2 alongside a cross-country mapping viewer.
Limitations. This tool classifies products at the nomenclature level. Binding tariff classification requires a formal ruling from the destination customs authority (CBP CROSS, EU BTI, CN Rulings). Use this tool for first-pass exploration; use a licensed broker for filing.
